Does Essai support Traditional Chinese essays?
Yes. Our Chinese model is trained specifically for the HK curriculum and HK book-written style — not translated from a Simplified model.
How is the model’s accuracy measured?
We benchmark on HK TSA and DSE past papers against human markers: AI scores stay within 5% error — roughly 2× more accurate than general-purpose AI (e.g. GPT-4 or Gemini with a generic prompt).
How accurate is the handwriting OCR?
99% for English handwriting, 95% for HK Traditional Chinese handwriting, benchmarked on 100K+ real student essays. Unusually cursive or extremely messy handwriting is flagged for teacher review rather than silently mis-read.
Can the model be configured for our school’s rubric?
Yes. Essai accepts your school’s marking rubric and tunes outputs against it; it can also align with TSA and DSE standards. We run one joint calibration session before go-live.
Does AI replace the teacher’s marking?
No. Essai is an AI first-pass; final scores and comments are always reviewed and released by the teacher. Teachers can edit, override, or add to any AI comment, with full audit history.
Is student data used to train AI models?
Never. Our contract explicitly forbids training on school data. Each school has its own tenant and database. Schools wanting stricter isolation can deploy Essai Sovereign (on-prem LLM).
